Michael joined Johns Hopkins in February 2025 as Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, overseeing the Office of Investments. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Michael served as the Chief Investment Officer at Georgetown University since 2011 and Chief Investment Officer at the University System of Maryland Foundation from 2003 to 2011.
Michael serves on the Board of Trustees of Georgetown Preparatory School, where he chairs the Finance and Investment Committee. He serves as a member of the Investment Committee for the McKnight Foundation and is a Senior Advisor to Blue Haven Initiative. He previously served on the Investment Committees or Boards of the Maryland State Pension and Retirement System, France-Merrick Foundation, Mission Square (formerly ICMA Retirement Corp), Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the CFA Society of Washington DC, and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Fairfield University and a Master’s degree from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
