Help us dream—beyond the 10 x 20 to a new JHU strategic vision

Two years ago, we started down a path to revisit Johns Hopkins University’s Ten by Twenty strategic vision and to dream together the next phase of our bold future. Unfortunately, those strategic planning conversations were disrupted by the urgent demands of the COVID pandemic. Today, we are thrilled to announce that we are relaunching this important effort, and I hope you will participate.

During our listening sessions in 2020, more than 400 members of our community offered their perspectives and ideas on the pillars of the Ten by Twenty: marshaling our strengths as One University, fostering individual excellence, deepening and strengthening our commitment to Baltimore and our neighbors, and building our institution to withstand global uncertainty even as we continue to pursue big, pathbreaking ideas. For the last decade, these collective priorities have anchored Johns Hopkins University’s astounding progress toward our achieving our most ambitious ideas and aspirations, and they certainly fueled our work during the pandemic as well, as we shared essential data and expertise through the Coronavirus Resource Center, launched new interdisciplinary research initiatives, and worked with partners across Baltimore to strengthen our communities and support our neighbors.

Now, as we look ahead to the university’s 150th anniversary and beyond, I am excited once again to be able to spend time with our faculty, staff, students, and community partners considering the critical questions that will shape our strategic vision for the years ahead. With this aim in mind, I am convening a series of conversations over the next several months on each of our campuses and in the community. I hope you will join one of these sessions or offer your ideas, insights, and feedback via email at strategicplanning@jh.edu or through our web portal. Please keep an eye out for these opportunities and invitations in the coming weeks.

Thank you for everything you have done to set our university on such an extraordinary trajectory and for bringing your imagination and partnership to the crafting of a plan for our shared future that embodies our university’s tremendous promise.

I look forward to talking with you.

Sincerely,

Ron Daniels
President
