Mount Vernon Place

Johns Hopkins, which brought the primary stakeholders together around a common community revitalization and economic development agenda, offered a lead challenge grant of $15,000. Since this action, the partners are championing the revitalization of the public park system near the university’s Peabody Institute. The Mount Vernon Place Conservancy entered into a public-private partnership with the city to restore the Washington Monument, which reopened in July 2015. The Conservancy is working on improving the four park squares, including the balustrades, sidewalks, fountains, and green space adjacent to the university’s Peabody Institute.
